It sure is lucky that Frodo was a generally good guy with a strong will, otherwise the series might have gone quite a bit differently. In general, Hobbiton prides itself on being full of quiet folk, but they seem to be two-for-two when it comes to producing fairly mild-mannered guys who rise to the occasion and save a ton of people in the process. Maybe eventually they'll take the Baggins' lead and start getting more involed in world-saving endeavors.
