Puerto Rico is a classic resource management game for 3 to 5 players. Each round, one at a time, players choose one of the five or more different roles. Each role allows players to take a unique action, and when a role is chosen by anyone, all players get to do that action, starting with the player who picked it. For example, when the Settler is chosen, players can choose and place a new plantation on their island board, a tile that produces a type of resource such as corn or sugar. When the Builder is chosen, players can pay the necessary doubloons to place a new building on their board. The Craftsman produces goods for players based on their production capabilities, and the Trader allows players to sell those goods for doubloons. Ultimately, the goal is to ship these goods when the Captain role is chosen, as shipped goods reward players with victory points. When the game ends, usually after maybe 15 rounds, the winner is the player with the most victory points. Our games generally take about 2 ½ hours which includes setup.
