Munchkin is a hilarious, dungeon-delving card game for 2 to 4 players that is all about scoring loot, killing bad guys and stabbing your friends in the back. Each player starts as a boring, level 1 human, but as the game goes on, you may play cards that change you into a thief, wizard, cleric or warrior. You may also change races to one of the usual suspects, the Elf, Dwarf or Halfling. And what would a dungeon romp be without epic loot? Find and equip amazing items like the Horny Helmet or the Chainsaw of Bloody Dismemberment. Then, use those items to slay perilous fiends such as the Lame Goblin or the Shrieking Geek. Combat is simple. Just compare the bad guy’s level to your own level, plus all your equipment. You can even bribe someone to help you, but you’ll often find that your “friends” would rather put considerable effort into seeing you fail. Every time you stand victorious in battle, you gain 1 or 2 levels, but you should be prepared to lose levels too. The first player to reach level 10 killing a monster wins. Our games typically last about an hour.
Off the box
Go down in the dungeon. Kill everything you meet. Backstab your friends and steal their stuff. Grab the treasure and run.
Admit it. You love it.
This award-winning card game, designed by Steve Jackson, captures the essence of the dungeon experience... with none of that stupid roleplaying stuff. You and your friends compete to kill monsters and grab magic items. And what magic items! Don the Horny Helmet and the Boots of Butt-Kicking. Wield the Staff of Napalm... or maybe the Chainsaw of Bloody Dismemberment. Start by slaughtering the Potted Plant and the Drooling Slime, and work your way up to the Plutonium Dragon...
And it's illustrated by John Kovalic! Fast-playing and silly, Munchkin can reduce any roleplaying group to hysteria. And, while they're laughing, you can steal their stuff.
